Macaroni & Cheese
You scream, I scream, we all scream for Mac & Cheese? If it’s made with Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese we do!
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 1/2 cup Finely Chopped Onion
- 2 tbsp All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 cups Elbow Macaroni, Cooked & Drained
- 2 cups Vern's Shredded Cheddar (divided)
- 2 cups Milk
- 1 cup cooked and crumbled Nueske's Bacon (optional)
Directions
- Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat
- Cook onion, if desired, in butter 5 minutes or until tender
- Stir in flour, salt, and pepper
- Gradually add milk and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened
- Remove from heat
- Add 1-1/2cups cheese
- Stir until cheese is melted
- Add cooked, crumbled bacon
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni
- Pour into 1-1/2quart casserole
- Top with remaining cheese
- Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned
